Interview-2-5

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while translating Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward?

For our translation workflow, usually the translator first translates everything that is going on. It is then given to the editor who localizes it to appeal more to the U.S. market. The biggest challenge for me was relaying the questions/answers between the editor and the writer (Uchikoshi). We had many in-depth/complex questions about the ideas behind the Uchikoshi/Zero escape world. My challenge was to properly voice both sides of the input. However since the discussions were so engaging, I believe Uchikoshi truly appreciated/enjoyed answering every single one of our questions. (There were many… Uchikoshi and I joked that we should make a book out of our correspondences and he wouldn’t even charge royalty for that.)
